The Norwalk Economic Development Corporation was created in 2002 by a dedicated group of concerned private business people and public officials and began operations in July 2003. Funding sources include the Norwalk Community Development Corporation, the City of Norwalk, and 70 private sector businesses and individuals, as well as non-profit partners. As a public-private partnership, the mission of the Norwalk Economic Development Corporation is to foster a strong economic environment in the Norwalk area that supports businesses and nurtures growth while promoting stability in the marketplace.
Business Retention and Expansion are our top priorities – assisting the businesses in our community and connecting them with the resources they need. Throughout the year, we meet with Norwalk-area businesses in conjunction with the City of Norwalk and the Imagine Norwalk program. Our Norwalk Area Business Appreciation Month is a major component of our Retention and Expansion program. In late April and early May of 2016, NEDC's 13th Annual Business Appreciation Month (BAM) reached more than 100 businesses within a three week span. More than 40 elected and appointed officials, NEDC board members and community leaders volunteered their time to assist in making these visits.
The Norwalk area is a great place to do business, and attracting new businesses and entrepreneurs is another important part of what we do. Whether you are an existing or new business, we would appreciate the opportunity to work with you and to share more about our wonderful community.
